We enjoy sharing our lifestyle with our family, friends, and others. So COME ON OUT and "let's get on with it". You only have an opportunity to live once. For those of you who do not choose to get away, feel free to travel vicariously via this blog.

This is primarily a blog of photographs, of our travels. Our blogging time is limited by our activities, so we figure a photograph is worth a thousand words. You may click on the photos to enlarge them.

There is only one Post per page. You can access earlier posts by clicking on the link below and to the right, or by going to the "Archive".

The "Relevant Links" will take you to sites showing our current location, the weather conditions that we are experiencing, some of our favorite ports of call, and information related to our boat. When using the SPOT link, to see where we are, click on "satellite" tab to get a photo of the area (takes a while to load).

If you must have more then you may also follow the links to our "Earlier Blogs".

Enjoy, Philip & Sharon

Signal Hill, St. John's, Eastern Newfoundland

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Signal Hill overlooks the entrance of St. John's Harbour.  We decide that we must get on top of that today.

The north end of St. John's Harbour as viewed from the Queen's Wharf:

A most excellent trail up Signal Hill:

Overlooking the entrance of St. John's Harbour with Cape Spear (the eastern most point of North America) in the distance:

"Yes, I am a pretty bird.  Now feed me."

A peek in:

"Sure buddy, take my picture again - I'm worth it.  But this time it will cost you."

These berries were everywhere and they were yummy.  "Go ahead, I'll catch up."

Stairway to heaven:

Overlooking the Atlantic while it was in a mellow mood:

There is Evergreen - at the Queen's Wharf:

One sort of fortification or another has always guarded this valuable harbor:

"I knew I should have followed you guys - I didn't think the mud was that deep."

A sign of progress??  Much to the dismay of the St. John's residents most of the harbor waterfront is being taken over by the offshore oil companies who need a place to dock their supply vessels.  Consequently the waterfront no longer belongs to the people and also their taxes are going up so much that many of them can no longer afford to live in St. John's.

This is the harbour water around our boat.  I am glad to see the men of St. John's have the sense to wear their rain jackets but I doubt Mr. Perkins would appreciate it if that stuff was sucked up his intake.  And I don't believe the tourists want to look at what they have already rejected either.  Come on folks - You can do better than that!!!
