We enjoy sharing our lifestyle with our family, friends, and others. So COME ON OUT and "let's get on with it". You only have an opportunity to live once. For those of you who do not choose to get away, feel free to travel vicariously via this blog.

This is primarily a blog of photographs, of our travels. Our blogging time is limited by our activities, so we figure a photograph is worth a thousand words. You may click on the photos to enlarge them.

There is only one Post per page. You can access earlier posts by clicking on the link below and to the right, or by going to the "Archive".

The "Relevant Links" will take you to sites showing our current location, the weather conditions that we are experiencing, some of our favorite ports of call, and information related to our boat. When using the SPOT link, to see where we are, click on "satellite" tab to get a photo of the area (takes a while to load).

If you must have more then you may also follow the links to our "Earlier Blogs".

Enjoy, Philip & Sharon

Back To The Beginning

Sunday, September 29th, 2013

The need of repairs, as well as the expectations of some ground dwellers has resulted in our early return to home base.  The autumn weather is beautiful and beckons us, yet we must call it quits for the year.

We did not achieve our original goal of exploring the northern Labrador coast this year (due to the ice conditions) but on the other hand we did visit many beautiful places and meet countless wonderful people.  We take away fantastic memories and the expectation that we will return to these places in the near future.

West Bound Along The Maine Coast - Day One

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

It is always a sad time each year when we must leave Mt. Desert behind:

Unsettled weather promised a good sail:

As we rounded Bass Harbor Head Light the Swan Island ferry headed out across Blue Hill Bay:

The hills of Camden appeared in the distance as we exited Deer Isle Thoroughfare and passed another lighthouse:

There were only a few boats to be seen as we crossed East Penobscott Bay:

The "Heritage" was also having a good late season sail:

Southwest Harbor, Maine

September 21st - 24th, 2013

"Aquaboys" instead of "cowboys":

We reward ourselves (for a successful out and back) by visiting Beal's, our favorite lobster dock.  Bring on the white wine in Coca Cola cups.

A bit worse for wear but still flying:

It is not too late in the season for some good flowers.

The working boats of Southwest Harbor:

Not so fast - We are not ready to call it quits and head south yet.

Gone to the store:

Get your worms & crawlers - We will ship them anywhere:

As the tide goes out, so does the day:

Checking the day's catch in:

While walking the back streets of Southwest Harbor we came across:

Rounding Cape Sable, Nova Scotia

Friday, September 20th, 2013

Sadly, today we must leave Nova Scotia behind, as the season is advancing.  The first light of the day appears in the sky as we head out of Shelburne Harbour:

Shelburne Harbour is a very deep harbor and it takes us about two hours to get out.  Near the entrance, the fish boats are already tending the aquaculture site as we pass:

As we turn south along the southwest coast of Nova Scotia we pass the light on McNutt's Island:

Cape Negro Island Light:

The light off of Blanche Island:

The Cape Sable Light (at the southern tip of Nova Scotia):

The sun sets over the Gulf of Maine as the day comes to a close.  Next stop:  Maine.
