At Little Harbour, we were very lucky to be able to tie to this wharf that had been totally reconstructed by some of those who enjoy visiting the harbour:
Looking out toward Trinity Bay, from the top of the hill between Little and Popes Harbours:
"No worries mate - I've got it covered"
A rather impressive bridge considering Popes Harbour is nothing but a seasonal out-port with no official connection to the outside world:
The community of Popes Harbour:
The residents were a crafty lot:
What a great view from the town site:
This is the First Popes Harbour Church. It is a non-denominational church that was recently built by the occasional summer visitors and residents of both Popes and Little Harbours.
We have found that nearly all the churches in the outports of Newfoundland have these old fashion pedal organs:
The view of Popes Harbour and beyond. If you look closely you can see "Lazy Days" going for the cod:
The rather soggy forest between the two harbours had some pretty scenery:
When descending to Little Harbour we noticed this cabin tucked in a nook across the cove:
It appears that this cabin was no longer used and was slowly returning to the earth:
Little Harbour:
As the sun was moving low in the sky we were treated to some very fine guitar and accordion playing and singing. We thank the folks for making our visit that much more special!
The last rays of the sun shining on the hills in the distance before it drops behind the horizon:
We pulled the computer out and everyone sang along to some Newfoundland tunes. It was a very special time indeed.
Another great sunset:
