We enjoy sharing our lifestyle with our family, friends, and others. So COME ON OUT and "let's get on with it". You only have an opportunity to live once. For those of you who do not choose to get away, feel free to travel vicariously via this blog.

This is primarily a blog of photographs, of our travels. Our blogging time is limited by our activities, so we figure a photograph is worth a thousand words. You may click on the photos to enlarge them.

There is only one Post per page. You can access earlier posts by clicking on the link below and to the right, or by going to the "Archive".

The "Relevant Links" will take you to sites showing our current location, the weather conditions that we are experiencing, some of our favorite ports of call, and information related to our boat. When using the SPOT link, to see where we are, click on "satellite" tab to get a photo of the area (takes a while to load).

If you must have more then you may also follow the links to our "Earlier Blogs".

Enjoy, Philip & Sharon

Francois, Southwest Newfoundland

Saturday, August 24th, 2013  (Post #2)

Here we are entering a short fjord where the out-port of Francois is situated at it's head:

Going for a walk in the back country above the village involves being prepared for the welcome of the black flies.

This small lake above Francois serves as the water source for the village:

The view of the entrance of the fjord:

This is a typical view of the back country above and behind the shore:

View of the village and harbour of Francois:

Yummy wild blueberries were everywhere:

The harbour in the fjord is much too deep to anchor in so a wonderful, floating, government dock is provided:

Bogs and ponds are seen everywhere because the solid rock does not allow the water to sink in.

As in all out-ports, all supplies and people arrive on the ferry:

This pigmy goat was the only goat that we have ever seen in Newfoundland.

And he had deluxe accommodations:

A view of "The Friar" (the rocky out cropping above the town) with the last sunlight of the day shining upon it:
